Tomorrow doesn’t matter today

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Matthew 6:34 ESV

God never ceases to amaze me, just as I thought to myself that I’d take a break and not bother to write anything, at 4 in the morning, He gives me what I need to give to you! This won’t be a long, drawn-out post today so take it easy and soak in what you will. Make the best of today!

We’ve heard this a thousand times over. “Today is a gift that’s why they call it the present” and that couldn’t be more true. As I sit at work, I’m reminded of my progress throughout my day. Typically I start my new day at work or asleep on my days off, and I tend to reflect on my level of productivity of the day before. From there I rate the “good, bad, or lazy” my day has been, and based on those calculations I then make plans for tomorrow to catch up on productivity I don’t have access to as of yet.

Spending Today.

We get so caught up on “tomorrow” and chasing it by preparing for today, but what if we completely live in today? What if we prepare and execute in one day? (If possible for your situation). You don’t have to accomplish a major life move today, what I mean is, what if we committed to living the best way we can right now in our now? I believe that most times we become focused on our feelings and allow them to influence how our day goes. Instead of doing what we feel like doing, how about doing what should be done, now? Even if that means rest? What if that included enjoying ?

Wasting Today?

Putting off responsibility and discomfort for tomorrow, a day that never comes, is a disservice to us and enables behavior we assistance in dismantling to create a healthier life. Sorry, I don’t have a cute Christmas message for you, or myself really. To that sentiment though I will say, Yes, Jesus is the reason for the season, and He’s also the reason for the ability of choice. We tend to miss the beauty, importance and strength of each day and hour by hoping it’ll pass by faster because we’re doing something we don’t prefer. Why do we want to fast forward through life and complain we don’t have enough time?

Starting Today.

The start and end of the year is the most popular time to begin anew. Gym memberships are flying off the shelves, new wardrobes and planners are going out of stock as quickly as they can be replenished, all in hopes of creating and showing major changes we’re making. B ut, have we committed to making any changes today? What about today? That’s the only thing that we have the most control over ourselves is right now. Instead of waiting until the end of this year and the start of a new one, why not start today?

The greatest gift other than Christ has already been given and it’s only given to a select few and that gift is called today. With that, today is the last “anticipated post” of 2021. Have a safe, blessed, blissful, peaceful, beautiful, loved-filled, amazing and Holy Holiday! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
